Create a local profile

Norton Internet Security provides the Identity Safe Setup option to create local profile and portable profile. The option disappears after you successfully create local profile a portable profile.

The option disappears in the following cases:
  • If you have not connected an external drive, the option disappears after you create the local profile.
  • If you have connected one or more external drives after you created local profile, the option disappears after you create portable profile on all the external drives.
You can use the Set up Norton Identity Safe window to set a password for the profile that you create and also provide a name for the profile. By default, the Windows User Account name appears as the profile name. You can rename it if necessary.
To create a local profile
  1. In the Norton Internet Security main window, in the Web pane, click Settings.
  2. Under Identity Safe, in the Identity Safe Setup row, click Configure.

    The Create A New Profile dialog box appears when an external drive is connected. To go to the Set up Norton Identity Safe window, select the Local option, and then click OK.
  3. In the Set up Norton Identity Safe window, in the Password box, type a password.

    The password strength is reflected in the graphic on the right side of this page.
  4. In the Confirm Password box, type your password again.
  5. In the Hint box, provide a hint that reminds you of the password if you forget it.

    If your password and hint are the same, Norton Internet Security warns you not to have a password hint same as your password.
  6. In the Profile name box, type a name for the local profile.
  7. Choose one of the following options:



    Require Identity Safe password at the beginning of each session Prompts for your Identity Safe password every time you log in to Identity Safe

    You can change this setting in the Password & Security window.
    Require Identity Safe password before each Login is filled out Prompts for your Identity Safe password whenever it tries to autofill any login

    You can change this setting in the Password & Security window.
  8. Click Next.
  9. In the Manage Cards window that appears, you can create your first Identity Card if you want.
